Take part in McKinsey’s Instagram photo contest and share your career dreams

By Sally Eley, WorldSkills International

Young people around the world are being invited to share their career aspirations by taking part in an Instagram contest which highlights young peoples’ aspirations in the working world. Global Management Consultants, McKinsey have released their latest report "Education to Employment: Designing a system that works".

This is a comprehensive study that features hundreds of case studies and youth stories from around the world and a contest is being launched to add the voice—and—face of young people around the world. Anyone under the age of 35 can submit a photo that portrays how they see themselves in their career.

This is a question facing millions of young people around the world confronting a dramatically changing global job market. McKinsey’s will recognize the photos by publishing them on McKinsey on Society's site, https://bit.ly/IamAMcK, and by sharing them on their social networks.

Ryan Adams, from McKinsey’s comments: “We want as many young people as possible from around the globe to share their career aspirations with us through our Instagram contest. The entrants who submit our three favorite images of the next generation of workers, will have their photos featured across McKinsey's publishing channels, and will be paired with a McKinsey mentor to help them realize their career potential. To take part in the contest simply snap a photo of yourself and share it with us on Instagram by adding the hashtag #McKe2e and #IAmA with text that captures your job goals and aspirations. Alternatively, you can submit online on the McKinsey contest page.”

The closing date for entries is 14 January 2013. To find out more information and examples, visit: https://bit.ly/IamAMcK. McKinsey will announce the winners during the World Economic Forum in Davos on 24 January 2013.
