The state of education in 2020 – OECD Education at a Glance report released
The OECD has released their Education at a Glance 2020 report on the performance of education systems across member countries and partner economies.
At the official release event, Andreas Schleicher, Director of OECD Education and Skills, highlighted how the many inadequacies and inequities in our education systems has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
WorldSkills Champion Yousra Assali joined the global conversation to reflect on the impact of the impact on young, skilled talent.
“The COVID-19 has changed the lives of all of us; everyone is dealing with this pandemic in different way. As student it has completely changed the way of my studies, I started taking online classes,” said Yousra.
“At the beginning adapting to a new and different study method made me feel stressed and anxious, but after deciding to see things from a different perspective, or think outside the box, I realized how interesting it was to see how everything had become virtual yet effective. Thanks to this pandemic, it makes us think differently and takes us out of our comfort zone and also gives birth to blessing thing, a new innovative and technological method of study and work.”
Education at a Glance is the authoritative source for information on the state of education around the world. It provides data on the structure, finances, and performance of education systems across OECD countries and a number of partner economies.
The 2020 edition includes a focus on vocational education and training, investigating participation in vocational education and training at various levels of education, the labour market, and social outcomes of vocational graduates as well as the human and financial resources invested in vocational institutions.
