Kieron first discovered his passion for cars as a small boy helping his Dad in the garage. That began a quest that led him to a career in automotive technology developing today’s most complex vehicles as a Powertrain Diagnostic Engineer with Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles.

When most people think of technicians, they think of some greasy, dirty person with minimal education fixing their car. The reality is that today’s cars are so advanced that it takes an extremely knowledgeable person to diagnose and repair them. The direction this industry is headed with electric and autonomous vehicles will really require technicians to continue to learn how to use cutting edge technology.

Kieron says this is a lesson he learned at WorldSkills, “I think one of the best things about WorldSkills is the “global hub” that connects everyone. I’ve met so many amazing people in this industry from around the world. Being able to connect with them is an invaluable asset.”

Kieron has no doubt that WorldSkills changes peoples’ lives. One day he would like to move into teaching so he can pass on his skills, “I think one of the greatest ways we help others is through meeting other young people and showcasing our experience and how WorldSkills has helped us. By being the voice of WorldSkills we can hopefully inspire them to follow the same journey.”
