A sneak peek into new WorldSkills Foundation projects

Three exciting new projects were approved by the WorldSkills Foundation Board of Trustees at their meeting in August 2015. Each of the three focuses on skills training - with a balance between those targeting disadvantaged youth and communities and those with more advanced TVET programmes.

Starting with a pilot in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a small working group will team up with local partners and WorldSkills Experts to develop ideas to positively impact young people in Morro dos Prazeres, a densely populated impoverished area located in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro. The social project ideas that result from this workshop would be developed through the collaboration with ETC (Educational Technology Consulting) Brazil's Design the Future programme, Rio IPP (Instituto Perreira Passos) programme www.riomaissocial.org, and Rio City Hall.

In Singapore, WorldSkills Foundation is putting out the call to WorldSkills Experts in Automobile Technology to join Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and WorldSkills Foundation to develop a toolkit for educators to enhance diagnostic skills in Automotive Technology courses. The toolkit adheres to WorldSkills Standard Specifications, and will incorporate a range of learning resources which can be shared across the WorldSkills Member network.
