Samsung continues to champion skills development as Overall Event Presenter of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and WorldSkills Global Premium Partner

Samsung’s continued collaboration with WorldSkills will mark its fifteenth year as Global Premium Partner and will make WorldSkills Lyon 2024 the sixth Competition to benefit from having it as Overall Event Presenter.

The news was announced at a signing ceremony on 8 February 2023 through synchronized live events in Seoul, Korea and Lyon, France.

The continued partnership confirms Samsung’s commitment to skills and demonstrates its longstanding and loyal support for WorldSkills. Thanks to their collaboration, WorldSkills and Samsung have helped more young people discover and develop new skills, set new global benchmarks for skills excellence, and connected industry needs to skills development.

David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International said: “By renewing its support, Samsung is sending a strong signal to all industries on the critical role that skills place in building industries and supporting innovation. Samsung recognizes that investing in new generations of skills excellence is required to turn the world’s most urgent challenges into opportunities.”

This was echoed by Dr Woosup Han, Secretary General of Samsung Skills, and Vice President of Samsung Electronics. "For the past fifteen years, Samsung has remained committed to growing our partnership with WorldSkills International because of a shared vision – we both deeply understand the significance and criticality of developing skilled workforces in order for people, industries, and nations to grow and prosper. This is a vision we must never lose sight of and continue to think about collaboratively and creatively because of the implications and what is at stake.”

Plans are already well underway for WorldSkills Lyon 2024, which will take place from 10 to 15 September next year.
