Preparations for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015

WorldSkills International and WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 staff meet at Anhembi Park.

From 23 July to 1 August, members of the WorldSkills International Secretariat were in Brazil to work together with the Competition Organizer of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015.

During their stay in São Paulo, the teams met to advance preparations on all aspects of the event. From planning packages, sponsorship, conferences, Competition Preparation Week, and the One School One Country programme. "The past weeks have been very good for us to build our relationship and partnership and to address particular topics with the right people," said Technical Director of WorldSkills International, Jane Stokie.

On 29 July, the entire team was at Anhembi Park, the venue for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, to check the layout of the Competition closely as well as the rooms where the conferences and seminars will be held.

Rafael Lucchesi, Director General of SENAI and David Hoey, CEO of WorldSkills International

On 31 July, members of the Competition Organizer of São Paulo and WorldSkills International attended the press conference to mark the launch of the “Olimpíada do Conhecimento”, the Brazilian National Competition, which will be held 3-6 September in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.

During the afternoon, the Director General of SENAI, Rafael Lucchesi, and the CEO of WorldSkills International, David Hoey, inaugurated, in a symbolic way, the São Paulo office for WorldSkills São Paulo 2015. On this occasion, Mr Lucchesi reinforced the importance of the support and the partnership with WorldSkills. For him, the Competition helps to raise the level of education and vocational training, in a scenario where everyone wins.

From the WorldSkills International Secretariat point of view, the balance of the visit was very positive. "The preparations are advancing very well, not without challenges, but those challenges will be solved in partnership with WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 for the best Competition ever," said Jane Stokie.
