One Year Until WorldSkills Kazan 2019

After WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 took the event in the Middle East for the first time, the next stop is Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and part of the Russian Federation.

It’s getting closer to the time to dig out your passport, read up the city guides, and learn a few phrases of Russian and even Tatar. WorldSkills Kazan 2019 is now a year away.

The 45th Competition, 22 to 27 August 2019, sees the WorldSkills movement once again head into new and exciting territory.

After WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 took the event to the Middle East for the first time, the next stop is Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and part of the Russian Federation.

Expectations for the event are high, with the organization for the Competition already advanced. WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be held at a brand new purpose built venue now nearing completion.

Close by is the WorldSkills Village where Competitors and Experts from the Member countries and regions will mingle and share experiences away from the heat of competition.

Meanwhile, the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 team are busy spreading the message of vocational skills and training not just around the world, but out of this world.

For the first time, the event features the WorldSkills Flag Relay, in which the WorldSkills Flag was taken across five continents, but also into orbit, with a two month stay on the International Space Station, following a flight on a Russian Soyuz spaceship.

Since then the Flag has visited cities in each of the WorldSkills Competition host countries - 20 in all. At each stop, an official patch commemorating their Competition was added to the flag.

The Flag Relay is a commemoration and reminder of the movement’s long and rich history. Right now the Flag Relay is travelling across Russia, an epic journey in itself around the world’s biggest country that takes it from the Pacific Ocean to the edge of the Baltic Sea.

And next 22 August, it will finally arrive at the Opening Ceremony for WorldSkills Kazan 2019, and the next chapter in the WorldSkills story.
