One School One Country shows the power of Skills in São Paulo
The WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 Competitors took part in the One School One Country programme, spending the day before the start of the Competition to connect with Brazilian youth who will also visit the event later in the week.
In February 2015, six months prior to the Competition, the students of the host schools met the representatives of their partner country or region. During this meeting they exchanged information about the country and its culture in order to prepare for the Competitors' visits.
Today the Competitors received a rock star welcome as the Brazilian students waited in anticipation for the arrival of the team they have been studying for the last six months. The Competitors and the students benefited from the experience, using the power of skills to bridge different cultures. Competitors experienced a typical Brazilian school, while the students gained inspiration on where their talents can take them if they choose a skill and pursue excellence.
One School One Country was developed in 2007 by the Competition Organizers for WorldSkills Shizuoka 2007. They wanted a way for the local schools to get involved in the Competition but also experience a unique cultural exchange opportunity. Since then each WorldSkills Competition has featured the One School One Country programme. For additional information about the programme visit www.worldskills.org/what/career/one-school-one-country.
