One School One Country

Students from 55 primary schools from Leipzig and surrounding communities took part in “One School One Country” today, as part of the WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 event.

This unique experience has the schools adopting a WorldSkills team and learning about their country and culture. The program officially launched last year, when it was announced to schools the WorldSkills team they would be working with. During the months that followed, students learned about the country in preparation for the team’s visit.

Today, the teams and the students finally had the opportunity to meet. The Saudi Arabia team showed students how to write out numbers in their language and shared some delicious snacks. Team Belgium played some football with their students and had them sample pastries. Each WorldSkills team delivered a different cultural experience to the students in their school. Students from Hans-Kroch-Schule are shown in the photograph performing for Competitors from Chinese Taipei.

The One School One Country program started at WorldSkills Shizuoka 2007 and has been an integral part of the WorldSkills experience for both the host city and visiting teams.
