Global Impact Challenge 2023: A celebration of capacity building in action
A short documentary and impact report about our latest capacity building in Uganda offer new insights into the benefits of “train the trainer” programmes.
If you ever wanted to learn more about the benefits and impact of WorldSkills capacity building, then here’s your chance. Today we are happy to unveil a short documentary and impact report that capture the experiences of the 30 trainers and 17 students who took part in the Global Impact Challenge 2023.
This latest capacity building programme was launched in May 2022 and delivered in partnership with Don Bosco Tech Africa. It was funded by WorldSkills Global Partner, Stanley Black & Decker through their Empower Makers grant. The 12-month programme was carefully designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of educators in Uganda through mentorship and knowledge-sharing, and ending with a hugely successful bootcamp hosted in Kamuli in May 2023.
Ugandan film producers and a social enterprise, Cinelab Akademie Initiative, joined the bootcamp and went behind the scenes gathering footage and speaking to trainers, students, and WorldSkills Experts about their expectations, what they learned, and how they feel about their skills now the programme is complete. The film is being launched in conjunction with a more detailed impact report that not only summarizes the aims and objectives of the programme, but shares feedback from the trainers and students, alongside results from a detailed survey. It offers insights into the successes from the programme and lessons to carry forward to other education institutions and government ministries who want to strengthen their VET systems to improve human development and accelerate economic growth.
