Future trends: highlighting the global need for skill development beyond WorldSkills São Paulo 2015

WorldSkills São Paulo 2015 brought together leaders from around the world to shine a spotlight on global skills issues. Key representatives from the UNESCO-UNEVOC, UNESCO, OECD, European Commission, and industry shared their insight and built connections with other supporters of the WorldSkills movement.

As part of the WorldSkills Conference Programme themed “Inspiring Skills Excellence and Development”, speaker Borhene Chakroun, Section Chief, UNESCO, spoke to the need for the international skills development agencies and organizations to unite to address the skills challenges of today and the future.

A panel of international leaders also spoke about key initiatives to advance the WorldSkills movement, including how work based apprenticeships can address economic, social, environmental, and political issues.

In the evening, UNEVOC further supported their goal of fostering connections among vocational education and trainer providers in a networking style event that brought technical and vocational educators from around the world together to share best practices, building momentum to address the skills challenges of the future.
