Developing Skills = Creating a Future

WorldSkills Global Partner, Siemens, was also a Gold Sponsor of WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, the 43rd WorldSkills Competition held 11-16 August 2015 in Anhembi Park in São Paulo. Under the banner “Developing Skills = Creating a Future”, Siemens took advantage of the Competition to welcome visitors to its own exhibition stand, at the Industrial Control skill area. Approximately 200,000 visitors were expected to come to the Competition - the largest in the history of WorldSkills, and the first time the Competition was held in Latin America.

Siemens supported the Competition by supplying state-of-the-art automation products for the Industrial Control, Electrical Installations, Polymechanics and Automation, Manufacturing Team Challenge (MTC), Industrial Mechanics Millwright, and Refrigeration/Air Conditioning skills. Also, the machines provided for the skills CNC Milling, MTC, and Plastic Die Engineering were equipped with CNC controllers from Siemens.

At WorldSkills São Paulo 2015, there were 1,189 Competitors from 59 countries competing for the gold medal title in a total of 50 skills. Competitors prepared for months and in some cases years, with the support of Experts, trainers, team mates, families, and friends. 

Siemens’ involvement in the WorldSkills Competition was part of its “Siemens Automation Cooperates with Education” programme. “By our commitment to WorldSkills, we are supporting the world’s best and brightest young specialists with top-class equipment, and placing the competition on an industrial level,” said Ralf-Michael Franke, CEO Siemens Business Unit Factory Automation. Paulo Ricardo Stark, CEO Siemens Ltda. Brazil, added, “SENAI and Siemens are cultivating an intensive long-lasting partnership.” President of WorldSkills, Simon Bartley, confirmed that the caliber of skills within the Manufacturing and Engineering Technology sector have been significantly boosted by support from Siemens.
